My sister bought Sims 3 today and tired to install it but the PC won't recognize the disc. The disc is inserted but the computer doesn't recognize it at all, accessing the drive via My Computer yields no results; it just says the drive is empty. The DVD drive on the computer is less than 6 months old or so.
technically the correct answer is, no.. it is suppose to be one install per copy.. BUT really.. 1) you can easily buy the game and two expansions, for example get ambitions and world adventures, install the game, then ambitions, and then world adventures last on one computer.. and on the other install the game, then world adventures, then ambitions..
To roughly explain, I've got sims 3 on another computer with a cd slot, but recently that computer has uninstalled the base game and expansion packs on its own for some reason (we don't know why), and won't let us re-install it back on. anyway, wanted to see if I could put it on my computer. but it doesn't have a cd slot and we cant remember

Yes you can so long as the game is installed on your hard drive you can run the game without a disc if you download and install a no cd crack for the game. alot of versions of no cd cracks and alot have virus's so make sure to do a virus check before installing and opening the zip folders. but yes you can run games on pc without the discs with no cd cracks installed for the game. cheers =)
Yes, it can be installed on both computers at the same time. I have it on my laptop and my desktop. You may be able to both run it at the same time if you start the game with the disc in one drive and then transfer it to the next and start it there...but otherwise only one computer could run it at a time.
It is always stored in (for 64bit, 32bit is similar but the exact name is different) C:usersyournamedocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 3, and this is standard procedure for any game. There are ways around this my mucking around in the registry, but I don't really recommend doing that.
